Valentine's Day: What Does It Mean To You?

Years ago I decided that the best Valentine's Day would be one spent in looking within and finding my own love. Don't get me wrong: I've had some awesome V-Days- filled with pampering, loving, jewelery and dream making. But to be my best self I have to start with me. My new way is an excellent opportunity to zero out the commercial push and replace it with personal growth.

"The more self-love we have, the less we will experience self-abuse. Self-abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-rejection comes from having an image of what it means to be perfect- and never measuring up to that ideal." ~ Don Miguel Ruiz, The 4 Agreements

This passage makes a whole lot of sense to me. It is an expert of a much larger concept, but it speaks to our own fears created by trying to measure up to other's ideas of perfection.

Today I am grateful to really experience answered prayers, and to feel an inner peace that has long escaped me.

I am grateful that love is mine when I open my heart and allow myself to feel the warmth of it radiate within.

I am grateful for the gift of wild roses that I have been blessed to receive.

What does Valentine's Day mean to you?
